Sunday 5th November 2017
From the Kaniwhaniwha car park, we will follow the Nikau Walk upstream to the Bell Track. After a quick look at the Kaniwhaniwha Caves we walk alongside the Blue Bull Stream up to the swing bridge. Here we continue upstream for 10 minutes to the kahikatea tree with its distinctive buttressed trunk. At 66.5 m, this is the tallest recorded native tree in New Zealand. A 12 km return walk.
