This trip will start and end in Te Aroha, with an overnight stay in the great 26 bunk Waitawheta DOC Hut.
The trip will cover the new track from the hut to the North South track. We are planning a medium and a fit option.

Trip No 2307 - Karioi, Raglan
Date: 12 Sept
For those who are just not snow bunnies, we have a day trip up and over Mt Karioi, Raglan. This is a great days walk for all. The bus will drop us off on Ruapuke Road, where we have a small amount of flat to warm up, then, yes, it’s bit of a climb. Our height for the day is 756m and on the clear day, there are views right down to Mt Egmont and up along the coast.
We stay on the top ridgeline for a while before dropping down to the waiting bus. Another option for those wishing a slightly easier trip, is to go with the bus driver around to the endpoint and start climbing up to meet the main party.
The hot chocolates at the Tongue & Groove, Raglan at the end of the day, are well worth the trip.

Trip No 2313b - Tiritiri Matangi - Option two Saturday on tiri, then Tawhanui Regional park

Option 2 is travel up Saturday morning in time to catch the ferry across to spend the day on the island, enjoying its many walks. We will all leave the island that afternoon and travel up to Tawharanui Regional Park. It covers 588ha and is an open sanctuary. View this park on www.arc.govt.nz website. Enter Tawharanui in search box.
We will camp in their campsite Saturday night, enjoy a great coastal and bush walk on Sunday before heading home.
