Club News
Wanted: Drivers Urgently Required We need more bus drivers so if anyone is interested in gaining their passenger service licence. Please contact Margaret Robbins. If you already have your heavy traffic licence this makes the process quicker! The club relies on members who generously volunteer their time to act as bus drivers on our tramps. Due to a couple of retirements we now urgently require new drivers. To be able to drive a bus you need to have a Large Passenger Vehicle licence. In order to get one of these you first require an HT licence. If you currently hold one of these and would be willing to volunteer your time for this or would like more information then please contact Margaret Robbins on 07 839 2585. The club will pay the cost of licensing, including the cost of a medical which is required. In addition to not having to pay for trips on which you drive, a benefit of being a bus driver is that on official club Waikato Hut trips you do not have to pay hut fees or any other costs. Without a pool of willing drivers the clubs range of activities may become limited in the future. |
Bus Departure and Arrival The meeting place for all club trips is on London St, McCaw Lewis Chapman carpark, 1 London Street, Hamilton. Your trip leader can provide further details |

Congratulations to: John Davies
Could this be you for 2010??? Each year we perform a popular Club ceremony; the presentation of the Tramper of the Year trophy. The trophy is a light hearted award, which none the less is always made to a deserving recipient. The first Tramper of the Year was in 1967. It has been presented annually ever since and recipient's names now extend to the wooden base. The award was the brainchild of a member who worked in an engineering firm, which also explains why the trophy is so heavy! The Tramper of the Year isn't necessarily the person who has done the most trips, but is the one who has had the greatest impact on trips and the life of the club over the year. The recipient is always chosen by the previous Tramper of the Year. 2010 - could this be you??? 2009 - John Davies 2008 - Stu Kneebone 2007 - Alan Wilson 2006 - Tracey Riley 2005 - Tania Willis 2004 - Peter Phipps 2003 - Paul McLennan 2002 - Anna & Kevin Hearn 2001 - Roland Stenger

Mobile phones vs land lines
When booking in a trip (either by filling in the form at club night, or leaving a voice mail message with the trip leader), could you please use your land line number (if you have one). It starts getting very expensive for trip leaders to contact each mobile. Thanks.
